The Jays picked up another pre-season victory today, blanking the Braves 3-0 at Disney World.
Ricky Romero continued to impress, getting the dubya by throwing four scoreless innings.
Dana Eveland contributed three scoreless innings of his own. He's now pitched eight innings without allowing an earned run. He also picked up a walk in his only plate appearance! Good eye Dana! I wonder what his fate will be at the end of March: the starting rotation seems set in stone (Marcum, Romero, Morrow, R-Zep, Tallet) so will he take a bullpen job? He was brought in to be on the roster, so I assume that he's going to make the trip North.
Our Boy McCoy went 2 for 4 with a pair of singles and Travis Snider doubled.
Also, we saw a brief appearance from Eric "Whore of the AL East" Hinske, who went 0 for 1. It's a Small World After All. The man has more ink than a copy of Bill Simmons' latest book.
The win brings the Jays to a record of 6-3, good for third place in the Grapefruit League. Here's a question: I understand why the Arizona league is called "The Cactus League" (Arizona being a giant desert and all), but why is the Florida league called "The Grapefruit League"? Why not call it "The Orange League"? Or the "Swing-State League"? Or the "Early-Bird-Special League"?
